چکیده
Accepted for publication 30 March 1995 Introduction The age related amyloids have come of age. The increasing attention devoted to Alzheimer's disease in recent years has cast a spotlight on protein, the amyloid fibril protein associated with this disease. However, there is a multitude ofother age related amyloids which have been identified. In some instances, the fibril proteins have been identified, whereas, in other cases, the biochemical nature of the amyloids remains unknown (table). Senile systemic amyloid (formerly designated senile cardiac amyloid) is the only clear-cut systemic form of age related amyloid, although the pre-

Amyloid as a Depot for the Formulation of Long-Acting Drugs
Amyloids are highly organized protein aggregates that are associated with both neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer disease and benign functions like skin pigmentation. Amyloids self-polymerize in a nucleation-dependent manner by recruiting their soluble protein/peptide counterpart and are stable against harsh physical, chemical, and biochemical conditions. These extraordinary propertie...

Introduction: In recent years, elder abuse has been recognized as a growing social problem that needs to be addressed. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the family abuse with older adults hospitalized and related factors in Hazrat Rasool Akram Hospital in Tehran in 2018. Method: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study. The sample of this study included 250 elderly people wh...
متن کاملUbiquitous Amyloids
The common view of amyloids and prion proteins is that they are associated with many currently incurable diseases and present a great danger to an organism. This danger comes from the fact that not only prion proteins, but also the infectious form(s) of amyloids, as it has been shown recently, are able to transmit the disease. On the other hand, organisms take advantage of the strength and dura...
متن کاملCommon mechanisms of amyloid oligomer pathogenesis in degenerative disease.
Many age-related degenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntington's diseases and type II diabetes, are associated with the accumulation of amyloid fibrils. The protein components of these amyloids vary widely and the mechanisms of pathogenesis remain an important subject of competing hypotheses and debate. Many different mechanisms have been postulated as significant causal...
متن کاملEffects of expanded clay (Leca) and Styrofoam as inorganic growing media substances on growth and development of Spathiphyllum wallisii
The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of expanded clay (Leca) and Styrofoam on the physical characteristics of growing media and their relationship with the growth of Spathiphyllum wallisii. The experiment was laid out in a complete randomized design (CRD) with 9 treatments and 3 replications. Cocopeat and peat moss combined with different proportions of inorganic materials Lec...
